Teaching

I am passionate about interdisciplinary undergraduate education that teaches students to apply humanistic methods to understanding the world and others. I aim to help students experience the ways that humanities approaches are valuable for any vocation they choose, from medicine to finance. I am also dedicated to religious literacy both in and outside of the university. In an era where expertise is devalued and scholars could retreat to familiar conversation-partners, I am excited by opportunities to expand the ways that the humanities, and religion, are represented in public discourses.

I have experience teaching undergraduates in the following courses: Religion, Health, and Medicine; Introduction to Religion; Introduction to Christianity; Introduction to Islam; and Death & Immortality. Other areas of expertise include: U.S. Religions; American Religious History, Religion and Politics, Religion and Health, and World’s Religions.
